“Balancing wrestling; the sport I love, and school was hard enough. Then, I needed money to get by, so I started cutting hair and found a passion for it. Later I was able to find a job where I could balance everything, while being a barber. So I started working weekends and perfected my craft of barbering. As Travis and I started developing together we realized that there was much more to barbering than simply cutting hair. We have a vision of giving the clients what they are missing, which was an all around experience of skincare and solving their problems. Therefore, we took the risk and went to the states to take a course on creating an experience for clients like no other. We learnt a lot more than we had expected to and felt even more motivated to follow our dreams. We opened Advanced Barbershop to really take care of our clients’ needs and exceed expectations of a tradition barbershop.”

“Growing up in Cuba the interest for the art of barbering started for me at a very young age. Although, this ongoing pleasure for creating beauty was just a hobby. I also had a full time job because working in tourism is what paid the bills. Barber classes weren’t available to us or even professional tools to create a cuts. We learned to do hairstyles the hardest way, with what you had, which there wasn’t a large variety of products. I followed this passion and self-learned the trade gaining knowledge everyday in the streets watching and practicing fades and trims from self-made barbers. Which were exceptional and did tremendous haircuts. I remember cutting mens’ hair with one clipper that would over heat, nevertheless I made sure to serve my clients with the best customer service and starting new friendships. This is my best theory, I love people and thanks to them they make me love the passion I always wanted to follow since a little boy. It’s with great pleasure that I join today this dynamic and bold team.”

“I started barbering at the age of 16. I was looking for a job & my friend’s dad owned a barbershop & they were open to teaching me so I said why not. Fast forward a good 2 years in & I started to really enjoy the profession more than ever before. The feeling after a getting a haircut is unmatchable & it’s something about giving that joy & excitement to people that really gets you going. Seeing my parents sacrifice so much to help support my dreams all throughout my life I feel like it’s my duty to give it all back to them one day. I’m all about spreading good energy & being around these group of guys with the talent we all have I feel like the sky is the limit.”

“Growing up in Orlando, Florida and the original dream was to make it to the NBA. It didn’t matter what type of environment I was surrounded by, the only thing that mattered was taking care of my family. At a young age, I was known as the guy who cut the neighborhood. I faced a lot of hard times throughout the process, but I never let that change my grind or character. At the age of 24, I decided to move back to Montreal with the intentions of joining the military. However, I needed to make money in order to support myself so I became a part-time barber. I never thought being a barber was going to be my career, but I started to realize I had a passion for it. After years of cutting hair, I wanted to do more than simply cut hair, I got tired of doing the same thing over and over again. Over time, I came to realize that coming to a barbershop should be a special experience. With my coworker and best friend; DJ and I took a course in the states. The best part about it was that we had the same grit, ambition and goals. We both knew we wanted to change things and bring new, innovative techniques to the barbering industry. On the way back from the course, we realized that what we learnt was what we needed in order to give our clients the complete experience. Fast forward to today, we have Advanced Barbershop where we provide our clients with an experience that has never been done before. And this is just the beginning!”
